ABOUT THE ROLE
The Academy Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and smooth operation of the Engineering Academy, with a focus on electrical and automation engineering. The role involves managing the training facility, its assets, and a team of internal and external trainers, as well as supervising the administrative assistant. The Academy Coordinator also contributes to the academy’s learning agenda by facilitating soft skills training, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Academy Administration and Operations
Oversee the daily operations of the Engineering Academy.
Maintain records and manage schedules, bookings, and training logistics.
Supervise the Administrative Assistant and ensure efficient office operations.
Develop and monitor the Academy’s calendar and training delivery timelines.
Oversee the performance of the Academy and ensure it meets its goals and objectives.
2. Facility and Asset Management
Ensure proper upkeep, safety, and functionality of the training facilities and physical assets.
Maintain inventory and conduct regular audits of equipment, training materials, and tools.
Coordinate procurement and servicing of academy resources.
3. Trainer Management
Schedule and coordinate internal and external trainers.
Support trainers with materials, logistics, and feedback collection.
Onboard and maintain a database of qualified training consultants.
4. Training Delivery and Facilitation
Facilitate soft skills training for technical trainees and staff in areas such as communication, teamwork, time management, and workplace conduct.
Work closely with technical experts to ensure a well-rounded training experience.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training and recommend improvements.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting
Serve as the primary liaison between the academy and internal departments or external partners.
Prepare reports and updates for the Chief Technical Officer on training progress, attendance, challenges, and opportunities.
OHSE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessing health, safety and environment risks related to the academy operations.
Providing safety education and training for the academy employees
Recognizing hazards and prepare safety hazard avoidance planning; prevent situations from reaching the point where an injury/illness occurs
Carrying out safety inspections and audits
Conducting or assisting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Knowledge of, adherence to and promotion of all TAGG’s OHS&E procedures and initiatives
Knowledge on the safe use of all tools and equipment as applicable and ensuring same by all Academy employees.
Ensuring that all employees use the appropriate tools and equipment including PPEs, for the right tasks.
Strong Knowledge of relevant HSE principles
Ability to prepare and update HSE statistical tracking and trending data.
Determine and communicate the OHS&E resource needs within their area of responsibility to their HODs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, or a related field.
Additional training in Learning & Development, Training Administration, or HR is an added advantage.
3+ years of experience in training coordination, programme administration, or related roles.
Exposure to technical or engineering environments is desirable.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate teams.
Competence in training delivery and basic facilitation.
Attention to detail and ability to manage assets and logistics.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems.
