Department: Technical Reports Directly To: Boiler house Supervisor
Location: Onsite at HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd, Adeiso, E/R.
Job Purpose
Operate boilers, pumps, and water softeners, maintain chemical treatment program, inspect and adjust the equipment to regulate and maintain a constant heat flow to meet production demand.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Operate biomass boiler in accordance with specifications or instructions.
Operate valves and pumps to control and adjust production of heat in accordance with production demand.
Monitor and analyze problems/malfunctions and take appropriate action to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems.
Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts to ensure that boilers are operating properly.
Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.
Monitor and test boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, and take necessary corrective actions.
Regulate air valves and speed of fans to attain effective combustion, and to control the usage of fuel.
Perform or arrange for repairs, such as replacement of defective valves, gaskets, or bearings, or fabrication of new parts.
Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures for the boilers.
Clean and lubricate boilers and auxiliary equipment and make minor adjustments as needed.
Supervise the activities of boiler firemen to attain the required heat.
Record and report defects and problems on the boilers.
Clean working areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Perform routine maintenance on the heat exchangers of the boilers per the SOP provided.
Support mechanics and electricians during maintenance work on the boiler.
Operate the Bobcat loader at the boiler house and ensure it is maintained.
Daily report on the operation and any malfunctions on the boilers to the supervisor. • Ensure to keep the necessary documentation in the boiler house.
Work assignment in all areas in the technical department.
Adhere to all health and food safety protocols on site.
Qualification
Minimum Qualification in Engineering HND / Degree
Minimum of one year experience
