Job Summary

We are looking for a dual-skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician & Electrician to ensure the continuous operation of our assembly line equipment, workshop tools, and facility infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily equipment upkeep, mechanical repairs, high and low voltage electrical wiring, equipment inspections, and repairs. This role requires working at heights to maintain overhead systems, lighting, and elevated assembly equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on assembly line machinery, conveyors, hoists, compressors, and vehicle lifting equipment.
  • Lubricate, clean, adjust, and inspect mechanical and electrical components to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and report equipment status to the supervisor.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on heavy-duty and light-duty vehicle assembly equipment (e.g., hydraulic presses, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes).
  • Replace defective parts such as bearings, belts, chains, seals, and couplings.
  • Interpret mechanical schematics and assembly manuals to ensure accurate repairs.
  • Connect and maintain control panels, electric motors, switchgear, circuit breakers, and lighting systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with Ghana’s energy and safety regulations (ECG/PURC standards).
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of all assembly equipment, workshop tools, and electrical installations.
  • Identify signs of wear, overheating, or malfunction and perform corrective repairs.
  • Test repaired equipment to verify safe and efficient operation.
  • Safely access elevated areas such as overhead cranes, roof-mounted exhaust fans, elevated conveyor systems, and highbay lighting.
  • Use appropriate access equipment (ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts) and fall protection (harnesses, lanyards, anchor points).
  • Inspect and maintain equipment installed at heights in accordance with safety standards.


Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum of NVTI Certificate II or III in Mechanical Engineering,
  • Electrical Engineering, or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Valid Electrical Wiring Certificate (e.g., from Energy Commission or recognised institution in Ghana).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of practical experience in mechanical maintenance and industrial electrical work,
  • preferably in a vehicle assembly plant, garage, or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with both LV and HV systems in an industrial setting
  • Hands-on experience with conveyors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, motors, and control panels.


Physical & Safety Requirements

  • Must be physically fit and comfortable working at heights of 5 meters or more.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 kg, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
  • Willing to work in varied conditions (dust, noise, workshop environment).
