Job Description

The Project Officer reports directly to the Project Manager (PM) and is responsible for the effective administration and management of the BC Project in Ashanti region and reporting on the outcome to internal and external contacts as required. The position also has the responsibility to ensure improved integration of gender equality into the projects plans, by developing child protection-specific activities and initiatives, building

the capacity of the project staff and partners.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Management & Administration (45%)

  • Lead planning and implementation of project activities aligned with the Country Strategy, RTP standards, donor requirements, and child protection objectives.
  • Supervise Project Coordinators and oversee delivery of safe, inclusive, and child-centered activities and community events.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, logistics, and procurement in line with approved guidelines.
  • Ensure strong integration of child safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion across all project activities.
  • Monitor project progress, safety and security context, and ensure timely reporting to the PM.
     

2. Team Management (20%)

  • Manage performance of direct reports through appraisals, coaching, and regular feedback.
  • Build capacity of staff, partners, and volunteers on child protection, safeguarding, and safe programming practices.
  • Ensure all staff and partners understand and comply with RTP safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Promote staff welfare, safety, and a culture of accountability and protection.
     

3. Networking, Representation & Partnership Building (15%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with NGOs, CBOs, government (especially child protection actors), and other stakeholders.
  • Represent RTP in relevant child protection and safeguarding platforms and coordination forums.
  • Strengthen partnerships that enhance child protection outcomes and ensure compliance with RTP policies.
     

4. Monitoring & Reporting (15%)

  • Oversee monitoring of child protection-focused activities, including field visits and data collection.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting on safeguarding, participation, and project outcomes.
  • Document and share lessons learned, best practices, and child protection trends and risks.
  • Support context and risk analysis to inform safe and responsive programming.
     

5. Other Duties (5%)

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the PM.
     


Required Skills or Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

3 years’ experience in project management and administration or community work including managing direct reports and integration of gender equality and child protection strategies in projects.

LANGUAGES

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and local language(s).
     


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (An Asset)

  • Knowledge in child and/or adult education
  • Knowledge in Sport for Development
  • Experience developing and managing budgets
  • Knowledge in child protection gender equality strategies
